BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Ann M. Obrecht
Ann Obrecht began serving as Wayne County Commissioner in 2003. As Commissioner, she has worked toward improving the quality of life for Wayne County citizens. She has advocated for fiscally conservative government spending, retaining and recruiting quality businesses and preserving and expanding agriculture.
Ann has served Wayne County citizens on several Local Boards including:
- Wayne County Planning Commission
- Wayne Economic Development Council
- Wayne County Family and Children First Council - served as Chairman
- Ag Success Team - Chairman
Multi-County Boards that Ann is a part of include:
- Northeast Ohio Four County Regional Planning and Development Organization - served as President
- District 16 Integrating Committee - for Ohio Public Works Projects
- Stark, Tuscarawas, Wayne Joint Solid Waste District - served as President
- Natural Resources Assistance Council - District 16
On the State Level:
- County Commissioners Association Board of Trustees
- C. William Swank Program in Rural-Urban Policy
- Ohio State University State Extension Advisory Committee
Ann received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Ashland University. She is on the Board of Trustees for United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties, a member of Wooster Rotary, Wayne County Farm Bureau, and St. John Lutheran Church. Ann is a 2003 Wooster Leadership Graduate.
Ann and her husband Jim have been married for 36 years. They own and operate their own business, a dairy farm in southwestern Wayne County. They began the business in 1974 as a part-time venture and have grown to a 250 cow dairy, farming 1,200 acres. They have 3 grown children.
